Find beauty everywhere. It’s there. It’s Everywhere. Even death has beauty. Simply slow down. Look. See. Feel. The way I see the world, everything in nature that dies, is broken, or which is in the process of decay, has beauty attached to it, or surrounding it.

P.S. For those who want to know, and many do ask me, for the most part, I am an iPhoneographer, a purist, meaning that, when I photograph using my iPhone, I do everything in-camera, in-phone, from capture to post-processing, unless I say so, otherwise. However, in this case, for this image, I wanted a certain artistic effect, and the original photo was far from perfect, and might not have been useable at all, without taking on the challenge, to take it from a photograph, and turn it instead, into an iPhone painting, or iPhone Art. I have used several apps here, in combination with Photoshop this time, to achieve my desired effect, and the final result you see here 🙂

Have FUN, play, explore with your creativity, art and photography, and get off the computer, out there in the fresh air, into the Great Outdoors, in Nature, and see what you can find. Nature is full of interesting textures, color and composition, just waiting for you to walk by and capture it.

In love and in light,

Forest Silhouette

To date, I’ve been a purist “iPhoneographer,” with a focus on capturing and post-processing everything in-camera, using only the iPhone, wherever possible. (… with a few exceptions, where I have used Photoshop to reduce noise, and whenever I have done that, it is noted with the image … if it doesn’t say anything, it’s pure iPhone all the way…)

As I get close to saying Good-Bye to my “old” iPhone, I’m experimenting with iPhone apps combined with Photoshop. As much as I have thoroughly enjoyed the creative process and challenge of using my 2MP iPhone 3G. (Yes! Everything you see up until now, I challenged myself to create, using only an iPhone 3G) … I’m really looking forward to an upgrade in iPhone camera quality to an 8MP camera. (My phone is often used more for photography than phone calls 🙂

So, here is my most recent little experiment. This Forest Silhouette was captured and post-processed in-camera with the iPhone, using a few different apps, and then I brought it into Photoshop to achieve the final result you see below.

Are you on Instagram? It’s a FREE iPhone app, with a great community of support for your photos, and it’s just FUN, which is why I do it.

You can easily send your images to Twitter, FaceBook and email. Instagram has a few cool (built-in) filters, however, I usually add a few tricks via other apps, before I upload to Instagram. That means, I usually (but not always) post-process my iPhone photos in-camera to my liking, before I post them to Instagram. Here’s a sample of an Instagram (iPhone app) image as it appears on Instagram.

This is Number 41 of my 50 Photos 50 Years iPhone image project :

P.S. There is also an Instagram plug-in, if you want to display your Instagram images on your blog or website. Have a look to the right hand column and you will see a stream of my most recent images.

I rarely throw out a blurry or grainy (noisy) iPhone image. Instead, I prefer the challenge of seeing what I can do, to turn it into … ART , like this, “Red House Blue Sky.” This is Number 42 of my 50 Photos 50 Years iPhone image project.

(via multiple social media channels) This is one of my most popular iPhone ART images to date and I had FUN creating it, from capture to creation :

Sunflowers in Keremeos

I’d been looking for sunflowers to photograph with my iPhone for quite awhile now, and it had not (yet) been a good year for sunflowers and photography.

On a recent vacation in the Okanagan of B.C., I was driving down a road in Keremeos and I came across a few scraggly sunflowers (and I really mean, a “few”) on a side road, just outside the fence of a vineyard. I hopped out of my car, and tried to find the best way to photograph these “less than ideal” subjects … and am thrilled with the result.

I LOVE the challenge of iPhoneography, in using a far “less than ideal” camera and lens, and then to photograph a difficult subject while it is showing far less than perfection in it’s current form, and then enjoy the even greater challenge of how to turn all of this imperfection and challenge into a work of art.

And now we have it, Sunflowers in Keremeos 🙂

P.S.  The owner of the vineyard came out of their home, and and ran down his entrance road, opened the locked gate, as I stood outside the fence photographing these sunflowers. He asked what I was doing, and of course I said … “I’m photographing sunflowers.”

He asked “Why? They are horrible.”

And so I smiled and said, “I am an artist, and I can turn almost anything into art.” End of Story 🙂

Maybe it’s possible that one day he will see this result, and SEE the beauty that I did, instead of “horrible” sunflowers?
