On my way to Tofino, I almost always stop for a walk in Cathedral Grove on Vancouver Island. Yesterday, I simply drove directly to Cathedral Grove, even though I wasn’t going to Tofino, in order to feed my craving to be in a forest, in nature. Although I am usually surrounded by nature where I live in the Comox Valley, I had been visiting in Victoria for a few days, and had too much time sitting on couches and chairs indoors, too much time eating, and too much time sitting in cars. I was missing my nature fix, so I took a detour on the way home, and in the pouring rain, went for a walk in Cathedral Grove. Nature calms me, grounds me, inspires me creatively.
Here’s a couple of iPhone photos that I captured while in the forest yesterday. In the case of these two forest images, this is not “purist iPhoneography” because to achieve the effect I wanted, I used the iPhone to capture the initial image and composition, applied apps afterward and then also took the image into Photoshop to achieve the final result that I wanted.
