My favourite bird, for as long as I can remember, has been the Bald Eagle.
These birds take my breath away every time that I see one. And every time I see one (or many), something good always happens in my life. Seriously it is true. It’s been even more lucky, if it flies overhead. I just LOVE them.
I recently made time for a day trip to The Raptors in Duncan, on Vancouver Island. If you do make the trip there, my recommendation is that you time it for their Flight Demonstrations (I highly recommend them) so that you can see these and other incredible birds of prey, in flight. The educational programs at The Raptors are fantastic, at least I found they were.
I went in part, to practice my skills as a photographer, and to get closer to birds in prey than I normally would be able to in nature. It’s a perfect place to practice.
This is my favourite bald eagle photo that I have ever taken. And yes, the photo was made on location with natural light (of course no flash) and outdoors.
Enjoy!
